The Nature Reserve which the property overlooks is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest and attracts the most rare and unique birds from across the globe. It is a beautiful area to explore for walkers, cyclists and birdwatchers alike, with a myriad of paths along the beach and through the countryside, to pools and lakes, bird hides, Rye Harbour, Camber Castle, and the picturesque village of Old Winchelsea.

The miles of shingle and sand beach stretch from Winchelsea Beach to Rye harbour. It is an uncrowded family beach, good for swimming at high tide and building sandcastles and exploring the sands at low tide.

The safe cycle track runs alongside Winchelsea Beach to Rye Harbour, then on to Rye and Camber. Cycles can be hired nearby.

With a range oven and hob and a flagstone floor, this is a delightful space to enjoy breakfast or lunch while taking in views over Rye and beyond. For evening meals, the dining room offers a more formal alternative, with a table to seat eight and a feature fireplace. The drawing room is generously sized and inviting, with two large sofas, additional chairs, and a feature fireplace. Rye is a 13th century cinque port in East Sussex, host to the River Rother, Romney Marshes and a history dating back before the Norman Conquest. A cobbled town offering an excellent array of unusual shops, antique emporiums, galleries selling local artist paintings and pottery, Rye also has a delightful range of tea rooms, restaurants, pubs and historic inns. There is also a weekly general market on Thursdays, as well as a farmers’ market every Wednesday morning. The town played host to BBC film crews for nine weeks in the summer of 2014, while filming of the TV series Mapp and Lucia took place, which has now been made into a DVD. All coastal scenes were filmed in nearby Camber Sands and bits of filming also took place in Hastings and the Tenterden Town railway station. Walkers and birdwatchers can enjoy a footpath leading across the marshes to Camber Castle built by Henry VIII. Camber Retreat is a gorgeous 2 bedroom, small pet friendly property, situated a stone’s throw from Camber Sands dunes and beautiful beach. The property is stylishly decorated with modern, quirky art yet still feels comfortable and a true home from home. On the top floor, the large master bedroom boasts its own en-suite and has a small balcony for enabling the fresh sea air to circulate throughout. Downstairs on level 3 you will find the family bathroom with bath, as well as the second bedroom which includes 3 full single beds. Down onto level 2 the living space opens out onto another balcony, which is perfect for alfresco dining, or just to sit and take a break from the stresses of life. A spacious and modern kitchen with huge dining area is found on the ground floor which opens out to a patio and communal grass area; a great space to have a BBQ in the summer months.

Camber Sands is a small beach village boasting 7 miles of sand and sea. Its a perfect UK destination not only for summer, but also a windy winter beach break is just as enjoyable.

Rye is only a short 5 minute drive away and has a wealth of shops, restaurants, tearooms, not forgetting the huge amount of history that is also hidden amongst the town. With cobbled streets and old beamed houses surrounding the church it offers a lovely day out for adventure and good food.

Hastings is only 30 minutes drive and has a very lively fishing part of the town, along with the old town which is like stepping back in time. The seafront offers fun for all ages with crazy golf, arcades and lots of delicious food stops.
